Running Accomplishments:

Once beat Cheryl at the Hobble Creek Half Marathon about three years ago, and kept up with Peggy for 100m four years ago. Completion of 52 marathons to date.

I enjoy the marathon distance. It demands consistency in training and provides a constant goal to work towards. Could not run without the support of my great family and friends.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy would be the number one goal. To accomplish this long-term feat I need to cross-train and add strength training into the mix.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Someday I would like to qualify for Boston although at the moment it seems very tough!

Personal:

Love running, music, art, food, friends and family in no particular order it just depends on the day.

It rained cats and dogs during my entire run. Reminded me of the St. George Marathon this past October. Hopefully there are some dry days ahead.

Heathen Sunday for me. Got up early and hit the gym before the family got going for the day. I went swimming for the first time in months and was able to swim a mile in a little bit under a mile. Yup, I am slow but steady. After the swimming I hit the treadmill and put in 6.7 miles in 55 minutes, not very fast but good for a old slow guy.

The rest of the day was very nice. Spent a lot of time with my wife and kids and played with them quite a bit. I completed three illustrations for a book that I have been working on for the past year. Hopefully it will be completed in the Summer. My kids have been giving me all kinds of input on what the illustrations should include.

Looking forward to a great week ahead.

This evening about 8:30 pm I went for a quick run around my neighborhood. My legs felt good and strong after taking a day off so the run felt great! Made sure I stretched out really well after the run. See if it makes a difference in the long run.

Watched Slumdog Millionaire with my wife this evening. Good movie although not sure it is Best Picture of the Year calibre. Oh well, everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Ran around the neighborhood and was able to keep a steady pace around 8:30-9:30 for eight miles. In the afternoon I pushed City Creek canyon. Trying to train on hills to prepare for Ragnar which is coming up way too fast. Lots of preparation to take care of.

Way too tired this morning to wake up for the early morning run. Hopefully the group decides to run on Saturday morning. I ended up running up and down South Temple for a steady hill workout.

Nice run up City Creek. It was fairly warm, upper seventies. Actually pushed pretty hard going up the hills. Need to take the rest of the week easy because it is marathon time come Saturday.

Worked all through the night to complete a project which was a totally stupid idea but the things we do to provide for our families. About 5:00am I headed out for a run. It was incredible! A light rain had just fallen and everything smelled brand new and clean. I have been able to drop about 10 pounds so I was feeling pretty fast overall. When I looked at the average speed I was in the 8:45 - 9:00 minute range which is flying for an old slow guy like me. When I came home the bed was calling to me and ended up sleeping for several hours. Thank goodness it was Memorial Day.

This is the first Memorial Day that I had an actual family member to place flowers on their grave. My little family went to the Murray City Cemetery and planted flowers on our stillborn son's grave. It was amazing because his grave was covered with flowers when we arrived. It was very comforting to know that other's recognized our little boy and were thinking of him. We placed some white lillies and yellow daisies. They looked nice.
