Running Accomplishments:

Once beat Cheryl at the Hobble Creek Half Marathon about three years ago, and kept up with Peggy for 100m four years ago. Completion of 52 marathons to date.

I enjoy the marathon distance. It demands consistency in training and provides a constant goal to work towards. Could not run without the support of my great family and friends.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy would be the number one goal. To accomplish this long-term feat I need to cross-train and add strength training into the mix.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Someday I would like to qualify for Boston although at the moment it seems very tough!

Personal:

Love running, music, art, food, friends and family in no particular order it just depends on the day.

Man was it cold this morning, it was almost painful! Had a really nice run with the group which was nice because it has been a long time. Visited Kelli, Scott, Peggy and others. It is so nice to have a group to run with. Also went for a run at lunch which was surreal because of all the snow covered roads and branches. It was really quite a nice afternoon.

WOW! it's only 2 days post LVM and you're running 10 miles, TWO runs in brrrr cold snow covered roads? YOU'RE AH-MAY-ZING! What was your "recovery" pace?

From Cheryl on Tue, Dec 09, 2008 at 18:30:08

Did you know as of right now, as I type this, you lead the mileage board? Way to go, Erico. You're amazing.

Smooth-none of us understands how Eric does it. A marathon could be on Monday and he'd be back running with us on Tuesday. The first time he showed up to our running group after running a marathon just a couple of days before, I was amazed. Now he does it all the time. When he's not back right after, then I being to wonder.

From Kelli on Tue, Dec 09, 2008 at 18:52:20

And he is not even SLOW after a marathon!

Crazy guy, running MORE miles! Hope you are felling great and that I did not talk your ears off! At least I only crashed into you once and I didn't knock you over---I am a CLUMSY runner! I think I own the road.

Maybe I am weird but find it very helpful to do an active recovery. I will run about a 10 - 12 minute pace for 1-2 miles after a marathon to help loosen up and do a session of stretching afterwards. It really seems to help the recovery process along.

I don't run at a high intensity which makes a difference. I can do the go-for-broke thing for a 5K or a 10K but doing that for a marathon like the BBK's do would probably kill me.

My motto is "start out slow and then ease up."

You are not weird---you are smart!

I like your motto. I want some of your weirdness (er smartness). You're awesome!
