Running Accomplishments:

Once beat Cheryl at the Hobble Creek Half Marathon about three years ago, and kept up with Peggy for 100m four years ago. Completion of 52 marathons to date.

I enjoy the marathon distance. It demands consistency in training and provides a constant goal to work towards. Could not run without the support of my great family and friends.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy would be the number one goal. To accomplish this long-term feat I need to cross-train and add strength training into the mix.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Someday I would like to qualify for Boston although at the moment it seems very tough!

Personal:

Love running, music, art, food, friends and family in no particular order it just depends on the day.

I am going to sound like a broken record but man was it cold this morning! I asked if anyone wanted to run Butterfield Canyon this morning and I had two other takers. So, this morning about 7:00am, Rachel and Alan braved the snow packed road with me. It was challenging running on the snow, it was very uneven all kinds of different textures.

It was a challenging run but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We made it 4 miles up the canyon before it was so darn steep that it was faster to walk than to try to keep up anything that resembled running or jogging for that matter. We caught our breath and congratulated each other and then headed down the canyon.

I expect that it was in the low 20's inside the canyon. At the bottom of the trail it was 25 degrees. Hopefully there will be more takers for the run when everyone gets back in town.

Third week in a row that I have met my mileage goal of 50 miles. I need to take next week easy and get a few recovery days so I might not hit 50 next week but I should be pretty close to meeting 200 miles for the month if I keep things up.

Congrats to you guys for being tough and completing that workout. I don't think the ice packed roads would have been good for my sore tendons, but I would be willing to do that run when the roads are clear and maybe it's a little warmer. Congratulations also on meeting your mileage goal. Cutting back a little next week sounds like a good plan to me.

Cheryl,

thanks for the support. I need some back-up for me to get over my OCD and take some rest.

The run was beautiful! It was very uneven and would not be the best for tendonitis, wise call on your part to avoid this one. Remember when we ran it several times last year? It was an incredible place to get away from the traffic and enjoy nature. When it clears up a bit let's get the group together and trek it again.

Eric-

Again, what a great run this morning. I was looking at your site to see if you posted the AP we had, but now that I think about how long I was gone I don't want to know. All I need to know is that I pushed myself hard and it was a great run! The mileage is more important than the time to me right now anyway. We'll have to do it again, all those Painters runners really missed out on a challenge :)

Eric, I just noticed that you posted 9.0 for mileage, is that what we really did or did you do extra? I thought we/I were only at 8.0, sure would make me feel better about time :)

We did eight miles, I had to make-up a mile later in the day to get the weekly mileage.

Way to go on the 50 and braving the cold! I actually thought about you guys while we were running Painters and wondered if you were out running in the cold!

Eric - Great run. I can't say we missed being there as the 50 degree weather is great down here. Peggy and I had a great race yesterday and just finished a nice walk in the sun. We are not looking forward to coming back to the cold tomorrow.

Great job at another 50 mile week.

Mike,

Yeah, it was cold. Nothing like the 50 in St. George. I wasn't sure we were going to make it too far in the snow but we stuck it out and had a great time.

Great job in St. George! Sounds like a great race and very encouraging for the upcoming year. I hope to have some of your speed rub-off on me.
