Running Accomplishments:

Once beat Cheryl at the Hobble Creek Half Marathon about three years ago, and kept up with Peggy for 100m four years ago. Completion of 52 marathons to date.

I enjoy the marathon distance. It demands consistency in training and provides a constant goal to work towards. Could not run without the support of my great family and friends.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy would be the number one goal. To accomplish this long-term feat I need to cross-train and add strength training into the mix.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Someday I would like to qualify for Boston although at the moment it seems very tough!

Personal:

Love running, music, art, food, friends and family in no particular order it just depends on the day.

Late to running group this morning because my ribs still hurt like crazy. After lathering with Icy Hot I headed in the car to the meeting place. Every stall was taken but one and a handicapped parking space. Incredible! I cannot believe the turn out we are getting in the middle of Winter. I am very excited to see how Spring and Summer will turn out. I ran hill repeats with Alan and Debbie mostly. Talked about some books that people are reading and some of them seem very interesting.

I went for an afternoon run and it felt wonderful. It was very slow but somehow my side feels better when it is warmed up and in motion as long as it is not too vigorous.

I am so jealous of your afternoon runs in this beautiful weather!!! I KNEW you would get to run, I have been thinking about it since about 10, wishing I could come with you! Dang, you are lucky!

How did you bruise your ribs? Hopefully that didn't happen on your vacation! It was great to see you this morning and chat for a minute. I love reading and commenting on blogs, but its so much more fun to see them in person.

I was going to park in the hadicapped spot (I must've gotten there just before you), but I was afraid of tickets so I just parked on the road, next time the spot is mine! Great mileage today - as always, was your run up the canyon in the clear air?

Eric what did you do to get your ribs sore?

Oh, the sore ribs story. Last Tuesday I took the Young Men from the ward to the Olympic Oval to ice skate. We had an awesome time! It has been about 14 years since I have ice skated so promptly I fell down right on my left side. So my lower rib cage has hurt like crazy for the past week.

I have been icing and placing heat wraps periodically and using ibuprofen and icy hot to try to make things better. That was one of the things that kept me from running a whole lot last week.

I find I am able to run again although it is very slow because of the pain that comes from the jarring. Hopefully things will improve fast because I have a lot of running to do in the future.

Sorry about the ribs; hopefully they'll get better quickly. Hopefully you had fun ice skating anyway! See you Thursday.
