Running Accomplishments:

Once beat Cheryl at the Hobble Creek Half Marathon about three years ago, and kept up with Peggy for 100m four years ago. Completion of 52 marathons to date.

I enjoy the marathon distance. It demands consistency in training and provides a constant goal to work towards. Could not run without the support of my great family and friends.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy would be the number one goal. To accomplish this long-term feat I need to cross-train and add strength training into the mix.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Someday I would like to qualify for Boston although at the moment it seems very tough!

Personal:

Love running, music, art, food, friends and family in no particular order it just depends on the day.

This morning I was late to running group. I thought meant at 6:30 meant to meet at 6:30 but everyone else started at 6:30 which means that I was late. I parked at the finish and run up to the start which is a little under a mile away. Thank goodness Dean Bullock was close so he could tell me where everyone was. I caught up to the main pack about mile 2-3 and held with them for another 2 miles. Everyone had tons of energy this morning and kept about an 8-8:30 pace. I slipped to about 9-9:30 pace the last half. I wish I would have brought some headphones to listen to some music along the way.

It was very cold near the river bottoms but warmed up as soon as I got off the trail. I needed to make up some mileage so I added a two mile loop and as soon as I was a mile away from the finish along came the slower group and I ended up finishing with them.

Kim had brought homemade frosted sugar cookies which were absolutely great. Mine was in the shape of a Stegosaurus with pink frosting. Very good! I had three, what a pig I am! I needed to put in 15 today to meet the mileage goal for the week and was able to do that. So far I am 2 weeks for 2 this year. It better pay off dangit!

Eric-

I can't believe you added on! Then I saw that you run 50 miles a week - wow! I'm impressed! I was just basking in the greatness of my meager 30. I love running with the group and am having a great time. I wish I would've known about the cookies, I definately would've stayed and out eaten everyone I'm sure :)

Eric,

Congrats on your 2 for 2!!! Can't wait to check your blog next Saturday and read 3 for 3 ... and so on and so on.

I missed you today completely, but that also means I missed the cookie :( I am very impressed with that you are 2 for 2 so far - I am 0 for 2. Need to improve.

COOKIES!!!!!! What? No one told me there would be cookies! Dang it to heck. I would have hung around for that!

Sorry you were on your own, I thought you were with Alan?!?

Eric, I'm actually glad I missed you. The temptation of the cookie would've killed me. I'm trying to be a good girl and have been eating good and I know I would've caved had I been offered one. Although, I missed seeing you. Great job getting in the run though even though you didn't get to enjoy our company:) HEE, HEE

Oh yes, the cookies were very good. Then, later that afternoon my wife made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. Good thing I had run this morning because I ate all the calories that had been burned off.

I was very impressed how everyone is able to run consistently at a brisk pace. I seem to fade after a certain point. Someone needs to tell me what the secret is to running eight minute miles like there is nothing to it.

From Kelli on Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 13:24:18

I am not that someone!! As you saw, I faded as well. Typically, I get faster after about 7 miles, though. I am an endurance runner, not a speed runner. Once I hit 5-6 miles, I finally feel good and the speed slowly comes on!

I will take endurance over speed any day! Endurance you have got down.

I want some cookies! I have not yet met Kimberley. I need to meet her this week.
