Running Accomplishments:

Once beat Cheryl at the Hobble Creek Half Marathon about three years ago, and kept up with Peggy for 100m four years ago. Completion of 52 marathons to date.

I enjoy the marathon distance. It demands consistency in training and provides a constant goal to work towards. Could not run without the support of my great family and friends.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy would be the number one goal. To accomplish this long-term feat I need to cross-train and add strength training into the mix.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Someday I would like to qualify for Boston although at the moment it seems very tough!

Personal:

Love running, music, art, food, friends and family in no particular order it just depends on the day.

Working late last night to prepare for a film shoot tomorrow so not a whole lot of rest. It could get ugly towards the end of the day. I was out the door at 20 after 5 this morning for a short run. This weekend is the Deseret News Marathon so it will be a take it easy week. Probably just about 20 miles this week plus the 26 the marathon will add on.

Wow, what a day. I had spent several of the last few days preparing for some filming that was taking place on BYU campus. The film is about The Young Women's President, Sister Elaine Dalton and her experience running the Boston Marathon for the first time. We had a great turn-out with extras and runners helping out. Everything turned out great. I went home and went to bed about 5:00pm and did not wake up until 7:00am the next morning.

Race: Deseret News Marathon (26.2 Miles) 04:35:00

A very early morning to say the least. I rode to the buses with my friends Alan and Rob. Everyone felt very confident about the race. I was hoping that the heat would stay off until I was finished which mostly it did. Only the last two miles were a bit warm but not too uncomfortable. I attacked the first 16 miles and felt really good. Around mile 18 I began to feel the fatigue in my quads from running downhill but still felt great and strong. Debbie K. ran the last 10 miles with me which was a big help and she brought my favorite drink (Vitamin Water XXX). If Gatorade tasted that good they would never be able to keep it on the shelves.

We spent several miles talking about books that we were reading and also about nutrition. Some great ideas that I am going to put into use. They should help me knock off these lingering 15 pounds and make me a true running specimen.

Anyways, it was a fun race.
